The Feizor Run 16th September 2026
A wet start and a huge crash at Brockholes Brow where a tractor and trailer unit had jack knifed and seemed to have smashed a couple of vans. The road was almost totally blocked but I managed to get by using the footpath to get round the carnage. However 6 riders arrived and started from the Bluebird setting off on the A59 to Copster Green where we made a short visit to past Treasurer and President Frank. Now over 90 he has stopped riding bikes but he was pleased to see us. We had a short chat and told him what we were up to as he was always part of the group that rode to Feizor for lunch. We wished him all the best for the future and waved him goodbye as we set off again.
From here we went back to the Ribchester road and turned off for Hurst Green and Stonyhurst. As we joined the Old Clitheroe Road two large trucks pulled out in front of us. One was carrying three huge lumps of stone and the other a big dumper truck. On a road this narrow there was no option to overtake so we just followed along until Chaigley where they turned off. On then to Waddington where we picked up the Slaidburn road. Just before Newton in Bowland we turned right and approached Slaidburn from the East. Here there were about 6 Bennelli bikes and riders and we went and had a chat with them They seemed to be a dealership on a photographic tour to make a publicity video for the launch of this new adventure model at the Stafford Show. John even got to sit on one and play with the controls!
After a rest we set off again through the Gisburn Forest round Stocks Reservoir. An amazing surprise here, after about 10 years of this road being a potholed adventure track they have worked on it and much of the worn out and potholed surface has been repaired. Out of the forest we went over the moor and at the Keasden junction turned right to go to Eldroth and Lawkland to join the A65 just west of Feizor. As we approached the cafe the farmer was herding sheep along the road and they didn’t want to be herded. There were several breakaways and at one point we formed a barrier to stop them running back up the lane!
On arrival at the cafe we spotted John M sitting outside in the now sunny weather. We parked up and went back to greet him and had a good chat about his ongoing BSA project and his possible return to riding. It was lovely to sit out in the sun and eat our meals and chat about all sorts. As we concluded and went to pay the clouds came over and it started to rain again. So we said our goodbyes, mounted and set off for Bentham. Here Peter left us and headed home to Morecambe and we took the road to High Bentham. Suddenly Roy came speeding by to catch up with John at the front to tell him we had lost Peter! Unfortunately he had not heard Peter tell us that he would leave us at Bentham but well done Roy for the concern and actions. We carried on round the West of Stocks reservoir and ended up again at Slaidburn for a rest. Alan left us here as he had a pressing engagement back at home. It was still showery weather as we four set off back towards Wigglesworth but we turned off onto the Grindleton Road to get to the A59 at Chatburn.
At Langho I turned off to go home to Lytham via Ribchester and Longridge and the others carried on to Samlesbury and their various locations near Preston.
Overall I had a very enjoyable day out even though there were wet roads and showers to contend with. It was great to see Frank Y and John M and the route that John took was great. The mileage from Samlesbury was 97 miles according to my Rever and from home I covered 137 miles.
