The Chip Shop Run Wednesday 19th August
A wet start to the day but eight riders turned up at the club as the skies cleared.
Dave led us off to Eccleston via the scenic route Via Wrightington and at the chippy we all crammed into the car park and ordered meals. By now it was sunny and we all sat in the garden to eat lunch and swap news. After this we gathered together and with the chip shop owner videoing us we departed and turned left into Doctors Lane. From here to Bispham Green and Hoscar on to Dalton and Upholland. A circular tour round the lanes at Upholland took us through Billinge and back to Upholland where we joined the lovely Bank Top Road with its views over Wigan to the Pennines. From here we headed for Parbold and here entered the narrow Stoney Lane . Ahead of us was a Tesco delivery van which was as wide as the lane so there was much stopping and shunting to avoid oncoming traffic and we eventually made it up to High Moor Lane and the Rigbye Arms where the ride finished with a stay in the garden with our drinks.
