The Silverdale Run 18th July
The day started badly for me. About 1.5 miles from home there was a screeching noise and the engine stopped. I looked down and the end of my drive train was dangling from under the gearbox. I phoned the others to say I would be late and untangled the chain from the gearbox sprocket and found the main part of the joining link was still there but of course the back plate and spring clip was gone. I had some steel wire in the toolbox and fabricated a locking ring on the ends of the link and this got me back home where I had a spare link. After fitting the new link I set off for the location of the lunch stop at Jenny Brown’s point hoping to meet up with the group for lunch. I actually arrived 10 minutes before the group arrived and I joined them in the lovely sunshine and watched the tide surge in as we ate lunch.
The nine riders, led by Alan had taken a scenic route to Silverdale.
Mic Wrote: Weather good, cooler than of late having had a heatwave for what seemed weeks. 9 riders set off from Nateby, Winmarliegh , Forton and towards Silverdale stopping at Woodies snack bar for a break and leg stretch. Richard met us at Jenny browns point for lunch while we looked across Morecambe bay.
On our return unfortunately Alan suffered a clutch failure and we had to leave. Lee went home and got his van to recover Alan and Richard led us back to Nateby.
