The 2015 Memorial Run.

The day started fine but chilly and 14 riders turned up at Broughton to follow Frank round his well loved run out into Bowland country. Setting off at 10am the first Section took us up the A6 to Bilsborough and then on to Chipping. We crossed the river Hodder between Chaigley and Bashall Barn  and headed for Bashall Eaves, Cow Ark and then at The Inn at Whitewell we turned and followed the River Hodder towards  Dunsop Bridge. Here we went over the bridge, through the village and headed for Slaidburn.

At Slaidburn we stopped for refreshments at the tea Rooms and after a break we set off for Wray. One of our number had trouble starting his engine but it seemed to be just a case of carburettor vaporising and soon we were on our way again. Luckily Dave had spotted that the group was missing a couple of riders and returned to find them and guide them onwards.

So now we were on the road again and I think it was shortly after this that some other riders in yellow vests got mixed in with our leading group and caused some to take a wrong route by following them!

The run over Lythe fell was super in the sunny weather and we happily all met up again at Bridge House Farm Cafe and Garden Centre in Wray for lunch.

It was here that Colin announced that his front brake had stopped working and after some tentative adjustments it was declared useless and he would have to ride home with rear brake only.

So after a fine rest and food in the sunshine we set off for the final stages through Caton, Quernmore, Dolphinholme (where Colin went home)  and on to Garstang to join the A6 back to Broughton.

So the Memorial Run 2015 turned out to be a super ride that took in some of the best countryside that the area has to offer. No serious problems and super weather. Thanks to all the riders who donated to our adopted charity (Prostate Cancer)  and thanks to Frank for organising and leading the run.
