J Wareing & Son Heritage Run

8 riders arrived at Auction Eats on a lovely sunny day to ride across Fylde to Westby near Wrea Green to have a roam round the J Wareings Heritage Museum.

After a pleasant 30 mile run down to Lytham and along the promenade to St Annes on Sea and round the airport the group rode to to Alan’s house on the moss where 2 more members joined the party.

Sheena had cooked loads of bacon and made up bacon baps for our lunch followed by various cakes and drinks. It was a lovely break, sitting out in the garden in the sunshine chatting and eating.

After the refreshments we were led into Alan’s various Man Caves where all sorts of projects were stored or undergoing refurbishment/repair. In the machine shop we were all impressed with the amount of machinery and the general tidiness of his workshops. I think some of us decided we needed to tidy up in our own workshops! Alan has some big projects ongoing and many more on the back burner so I don’t think he will need to take on any more projects for a while!

After the tour we thanked Sheena for all her effort to provide lunch and started up the bikes for the short trip back to Westby for the Heritage Museum visit.

The museum is made up of the vehicles and farming equipment that Peter Wareing has collected over the years and some of the machinery used by the company over the last century. The exhibits include a Sentinel steam wagon from 1934 (Sentinel were still making them in 1951) All the vehicles have been finished in the livery of J Wareing and Son and a splendid sight they are.

The sentinel was waiting for a boiler inspection at the time of the visit and the engineer was happy to explain to us the various interesting details that were on view.

From the Museum the group members went their separate ways back home after a very pleasant day out.

Thanks to Bob for organising a nice run out
