5 Members met at CRFC on a warm but dull day. Dave led off towards Parbold  before turning for Mawdesley. Would the dreaded Mawdesley Triangle claim 5 more victims? Actually no but we gave it a go and ventured into the abyss…. After dodging cyclists, horses and crazy 4X4 drivers we emerged at The Eagle and Child (Bird and Bastard to the locals) before recklessly diving back in towards the centre. Finally we escaped to the far side of the Triangle and breathed a sigh of relief as we passed Dave Clark’s garage (his VTR100 parked outside). Then we encountered wobbly Herbert in his Nissan Note doing 25MPH (well you can’t be too careful can you). Entering Rufford I decided to go whichever way he didn’t and fortunately we could turn off towards Martin Mere. We re-joined the main road in Holmeswood on the corner where Hubert Pilkington the basket-maker lived. We turned at Mere Brow (near the site of our 1980 Jampot Rally) and crossed the bi-pass.

At the show there was a good spread of bikes, cars and tractors, but we headed straight for the café! After about an hour I realised I hadn’t looked at anything, too busy talking to friends I hadn’t seen for donkey’s years! After another cup of coffee and a fruit scone we had a gander at the assembled stuff. That’s when we spotted Dennis and his wife in their MGB Roadster. Very nice too in very dark British Racing Green. Dennis is very pleased with it and pointed out all the extras and modifications.

The sun had come out with a vengeance by now and it was too hot to be hanging around, so we made for home. A good little local show and all proceeds go to the Spinal Unit Action Group in Southport.
