12 bikes assembled at the Myerscough opposite British Aerospace on the A59. Mostly the usual suspects of course but it was nice to see Alan with pillion Shenna on his lovely Moto Guzzi T3. It was a little wet and Steve led us around Mellor to avoid the Royal Lancashire Show near Ribchester. There were some lovely narrow and very steep lanes with lots of horse ‘product’ for us to try to avoid. Under the trees the lanes were very wet and often had loose and rough surfaces but with glimpses of lovely countryside and sunshine occasionally coming through.
We didn’t see any witches around Pendle Hill but they soon made their presence felt. First they managed to pull Richard’s battery lead off, then later they flicked Alan’s kill switch off on the big Guzzi leaving him with no sparks. This caused some confusion until bright spark (geddit?) Chris ‘Pebbles’ Stones quietly suggested that this little switch should be….er….on! Oh how we laughed!
We enjoyed a lengthy lunch break at Slaidburn, and after another shower , the sun came out and we enjoyed a nice ride home in warm sunshine. It was a very enjoyable day out, quite demanding at times and needing plenty of concentration. Many thanks Steve for planning a super run.
Dave.
