A beautiful sunny morning greeted the eight riders who assembled at the Bowling Green for the run to Andrew Engineering in Atherton.  Most were well wrapped up as the overnight temperature had dropped to form dew on all the grassy areas but as the day progressed if became more and more like summer again.

Off we set in quite light traffic but as usual there were some car drivers who wanted to be somewhere else fast and ended up making fools of themselves, one almost collecting the rear end of a tractor on his bonnet! But we all arrived safely at Andrew Engineering at about 11:30 to find at least 3 members of the Cheshire section were there already.

Malcolm had organised his usual auto jumble stall which seemed to do good business and many other desirable articles from his stock were quickly packed into haversacks  and onto carriers.

Much interest was shown in his machines and the articles they were manufacturing for a wide variety of customers.  Such a shame we will be losing all the skill and parts that he produces when he finally retires and the business closes.

Upstairs, out side the stores, was prepared was a spread of sandwiches and cakes with cups of tea and some lovely hotpot. He really knows how to greet and treat the motorcycling fraternity!

So as 2pm approached we bid our farewells and headed back in the glorious sunshine to the Bowling Green for drinks and discussion.  Not sure what had happened at the BG before we arrived but they had run out of many of their guest ales so we had to resort to standard lagers or coffees.

This wasn’t a problem as the weather was great and we all sat outside in the sunshine for around an hour before departing about 3pm.

Overall a great day out to AE in brilliant weather with great hospitality. A shame it might be the last.
