8 Riders turned up at Broughton for Richard K’s Morning run. The morning had been very wet and most riders had braved some serious rain to get there but as 10:30 approached the rain left us and the rest of the run was in the dry with even some sunshine.

Richard led us a very scenic route through the Fylde to get to St Michaels where we crossed the River Wyre and then followed the north bank to Hambleton. Here Dave left us to go home without stopping as his kick start had disconnected itself inside the gearbox somehow. The remaining seven stopped and had a chat at Graham Jackson’s place. (VMCC Chairman Blackpool and District Group).  Always generous with the tea and coffee and talks of a life in motorcycles we looked at his collection, had a chat and he even started a 1930s New Imperial for us to hear.

Then onward into Hambleton we went but turned off towards Wardleys Creek and followed some very “interesting” narrow, one track roads to get to Preesall and then on to Knott End.  Here the tide was almost high and while several braved the wind to watch the waves crashing over the ferry jetty while they ate their sandwiches some of us took to the shelter of the cafe for tea and scones.

Then onward we travelled to Stakepool and then across the moss to Winmarleigh and Bay Horse through Dolphinholme and on to Scorton where we were stopped from going along the road to Nicky Nook as the road was closed. Maybe for resurfacing as the road through Forton had just been surfaces too.  From here Richard started flying by the seat of his pants and took us through some very under travelled roads round  Cleveleys Mere and then back via Cockerham to Glasson Dock for a final break. By the time we arrived here the tide was full and the lock water level very high with an interesting “Ploughing” process being carried out by a boat in the dock.  Very strange.

So after this final stop we set off back through Cockerham to Cabus and then down the A6 to Broughton for around 2.30ish.

Overall a great run out. Many thanks to Richard and we hope Dave gets his kick start fixed easily.
