7 riders met at the salubrious Lymm Truck Stop on a warm but misty day. Jim led off in a beautiful cacophony of Norton tappettry and we soon passed through Knutsford and Macclesfield before winding our way up the glorious Cat and Fiddle Pass.
We turned off the main road onto some lovely narrow lanes, eventually dropping down into the picturesque but very busy town of Bakewell. After doing battle with the parking warden and filling up with Bakewell Tarts (ooh er missus!) we set off for Monsal Head. We stopped here just to look at the fantastic view (see pic) before dropping down to Little Longstone and Litton. The mist was clearing now and it was a hot, sunny day. We turned into the carpark at a very busy Castleton for a break and coffee.
Leaving Castleton we went up Wynotts Pass. This is an amazing pass a bit like Cheddar gorge on a 1 in 4 slope.
The run back to Knutsford took us through some lovely villages and we eventually arrived back at Lymm T.S. with everyone just a little bit….er tired.
Thanks to Jim for a grand run through some of the best scenery in the country.
