25 Members turned up at The Travellers Rest for the AGM and February Club meet in mild and dry conditions, 4 members arrived on bikes.
The business of the AGM was conducted with Frank and Jim Standing down from their committee posts after 13 and 15 years of service as Treasurer and Secretary. Our thanks for their long service to the section was voiced and they fully intend to remain on the committee to help and guide us. Bob Cowell was elected as the new Secretary and Tony Jennings as the new Treasurer. Thanks to these two volunteers we will be able to continue with our program of events as normal. Chairman Richard was asked if he would like to remain as our Chairman and there being no other volunteers he was duly elected again for 2018.
Frank’s wife Barbara was not in attendance as she has a heavy cold but in view of her work helping Frank over his long term as Treasurer she was thanked for her activities in bookkeeping for the Section and a small bunch of roses was given to Frank to pass over to her with our thanks.
After the Club meeting Frank was asked, in view of his long history of support to the membership in so many ways, if he would do us the honour of accepting the role of President of the Section. He graciously accepted the role and so we now have a well respected figurehead for the Section.
