Our goal was to stop and view the Sea, Inland water and have a Canal beer stop on our ride.

Nine riders assembled at The Bowling Green for the ‘around the club house’ tour, with dry roads we set off via the country roads and lanes, but with our route blocked due to resurfacing, very unused local short cuts were required early in the ride to get us back on track.

The route headed towards Leyland, Bretherton then through Tarleton and Hesketh Bank to the Southport coast road.

The first stop was at Ainsdale beach for the sea views and a comfort stop.  The route then took us via Ainsdale centre to Halsall and we travelled through Ormskirk to Newburgh and then over Highmoor towards Standish via Pepper lane.

From Standish we touched Blackrod and Horwich to arrive at the Rivington Lower Barn for Lunch.

After Lunch, we headed towards Adlington then circled the local reservoirs to take the top road towards Belmont; we then headed towards Turton Bottoms to view the inland water, we parked on the reservoir link road for Cliff to take our pictures for the Club gallery.

Travelling back via Belmont we turned right to go over the hills on the A675 towards Houghton & we went through Abbey Village and Riley Green.

The route took us via a number of one track lanes near Brindle to a Local Canal Pub called the Top Lock, this was selected by the riders (Peters choice) for the good beers and canal views.

We did not all return to the Bowling Green as members split in different directions to get home.

On giving full instructions at the start briefing and highlighting the club riding rules, we managed to lose no riders during the day and all seemed to enjoy the ride and beer. (We did lose Steve at Ainsdale beach but that was through his choice).

See the Gallery for snap shots taken by our riding photographer Cliff.

Thanks to the riders who joined us.
