18 members, of the North West section of the AJS & Matchless Owners Club met up at Broughton near Preston at 10am Saturday 25th July to take part in Richard’s run.

At around 10.30am we set off on the run with our guide Richard taking us via a number of back lanes to our first stop at Glasson Dock for a morning brew.

Dave from Lancaster who is a new member of the club, saw the run listed on the new NW Section website,he met up with us part way through the run.

We then set off and made our way through Lancaster towards the Woodlands Hotel at Silverdale via more back lanes.

The Woodlands Hotel is a bit of a time warp place, it was like walking into a pub from the 1970’s, none of your designer gastro pub rubbish here, it was a real pub with real ales and the only food on sale, a selection of the best barm cakes I have had in a long time, the staff and customers were very friendly, as a lad who grow up and started going to pubs in the 1970’s I felt right at home in this place.

After spending a very enjoyable few hours at the Woodlands we set off again and made our way through Arnside and then on towards Caton for a quick pit stop at a well know motorcyclists café for another brew, we then set off towards Dolphinholme via more back lanes, we stopped at the Dolphinholme Village Hall to take a group photo, after this we set off back to our starting point in Broughton.

A big thank you must go to Richard for taking all of us on such a great run, by the time I had got home I had been out from 9am till 5pm and done 125miles and the weather stayed fine all day.

Cheers
