Our trip to Derian House Childrens Hospice started at 1:30 from the football club. We had ridden through rain sleet and hail, battling the blustery wind to get there but 6 stalwarts arrived to deliver our donation. Amazingly the sun came out after we arrived and we set off, dressed in our waterproofs but from now on these were superfluous. We arrived at the hospice and formed up at the main entrance and attached our club banner to the bikes for the photograph. The young lady from the donations team greeted us and we explained how we had raised the money and she thanked us very much for our efforts. The photos for the event were taken and we then saddled up to head for the Delph Diving centre for refreshments.
When we arrived there the sun was shining and we sat outside with our drinks, cakes and sausage bap for nice chat sheltered from the wind by the clubhouse. What a change from 2 hours previously! Chat finished, refreshments eaten we set off on our separate ways home. Thanks to all the club members and supporters who donated and special thanks to those who braved the weather to join the event.
