JOHN R’S HODDER VALLEY RUN

A very good turn-out of 10 riders (including John M. who we picked up at Longridge) met at Barton grange garden centre. John R. led us off through Goosnargh and on to Longridge where we waited for John M. who thought we were meeting at CRFC!

We took a small lane around and up Jeffrey Hill riding over Longridge Fell and dropping down to a more familiar road over the River Hodder and on to Bashall Eaves. After Cow Ark we dropped (literally!!) down Hall Hill to Whitewell, pausing at Little Bowland Road for a breather (and for David Y. to cool down after his bike stalled).

After our break we rode into Chipping (we all thought John was stopping here for dinner) but instead we turned at the café and took a nice windy route over to Catterall just off the A6 where we pulled into the Auction café. Great food and lovely coffee, I think we might just be coming here again!

With dinner sorted we set off again turning to Barnacre then past Calder vale to Oakenclough then towards Inglewhite. It was around here that Cliff’s G80S thought it was a BSA and bits started falling off! First, we picked up a battery box lid. Then, further on up the road we found the battery box, battery, fuse holder and other fixings. Luckily Cliff had stopped before anything else fell off! Perhaps the bike’s trying to tell you something Cliff??

Once underway with the bits stowed away in Cliffs cavernous topbox, we made our way back towards the picturesque and never at all busy A6, dispersing at Barton. A super day out, many thanks John for finding those great roads for us.
