The Chipshop Run 2021

An overcast morning greeted 7 riders at the Football Club and very nice it was to see Peter, all the way from Morecambe on his 350 and Ernie and Sheila on their 350.

Dave A, Tony J. John I, Alan A, and myself made up the 7.

We set off on the usual route to the Chippy in Eccleston through Wrightington Bar and ended up at the chippy to find it was quite busy. After being served we sat in the garden in broken sunshine to eat our lunch and afterwards saddled up and headed for Mawdsley. Ernie and Sheila left us here as Ernie had to be somewhere else at 2:30. Dave then took us on a very scenic circular tour of the area South and East of Skelmersdale past rolling fields of cereals through deeply wooded valleys and finally passing over Harrock Hill to drop down to Bispham Green and the Farmers Arms. I had no idea that the area had such a diverse range of countryside and lanes to explore.

Overall a lovely ride through that part of the county and luckily no rain so far. It did start to threaten rain when we arrived at the Farmers Arms so Peter left us to head back home. We ordered drinks and sat outside to drink up. The Farmers Arms has a new owner who has put a lot of money into refurbishment and it looked very nice inside.

A light drizzle started so we thanked Dave for his run and headed our separate ways. The drizzle stopped just after Alan and I got on the A59 heading to Preston and from there it was dry all the way back to the Fylde.

A lovely afternoon out, a good lunch and a super ride.
