Memorial Run report 29 May 2021
14 riders turned out for the Memorial Run in overcast but warm weather.
A couple of new members turned up, one on a very well prepared 350 trials machine.
At 10:30 Dave lead us out over to Whitewell, Dunsop Bridge and a break at Slaidburn where there were some interesting bikes and riders to chat to. A 6 Cylinder Kawasaki was a bit of a star. Some riders had come down from Penrith for a ride out and one was a definite AMC rider and owner.
The roads had been clear and we had the lovely smell of fresh cut grass in our nostrils as we passed fields cut ready for haymaking.
Then we set off over the Skaithe to to reach Wray. On the way a rider slipped on the gravel at the side of the road and tumbled but no injury or major damage was done and we were soon off again.
At Wray the garden centre was remarkably quiet for a bank holiday weekend and it seemed to be that the scarecrow festival had been cancelled due to Covid. In the now sunny and warm air we sat on benches and ate our lunches.
We returned to Barton grange the usual way via Caton, Quernmore and Garstang dropping off riders to go their separate ways as we rode home.
A few minutes were spent At Brock, chatting and thanking Dave for the run and departure for me was around 2:45 after a pleasant ride on a very nice day.
