Bill Jefferies Funeral Tribute
Twelve Riders arrived at the Charnock Richard Football Club in glorious sunny weather to pay tribute to our well liked and respected friend Bill. Apologies had been received from several members who were not able to be there in person but who sent their condolences to the family.
The group rode from the club to the entrance road to the crematorium and parked up along the access road until the hearse arrived. We then formed up in a cavalcade and followed the hearse up to the entrance of the chapel and the car park where the family and mourners were waiting.
Bill’s daughter came over to thank us for attending and then led the mourners into the chapel. As soon as we could hear the service had started we left with some going straight home or on to other duties with a few going on to the Lord Nelson for a drink.
Those at the Lord Nelson toasted our departed member and sat in the warm sunshine reminiscing and planning future biking exploits.
Bill was a long standing and supportive member of the Club and in his active days had been a keen rider. His dry wit and friendly manner made him a much liked member and the club will miss his presence.
He will be another good friend who will be remembered on our annual Memorial ride.
