10 riders turned out for Steve’s run on a beautiful warm and sunny morning. Steve announced that Lunch would be at Slaidburn just in case anyone got separated then off we went, up the A6 and turned off through Scorton and on up towards Marshaw but turned off this road to pass through the Duke of Westminster’s Estate to end up at Abbystead. Left turn at Abbeystead and out onto the Quernmore-Dunsop Bridge road, past the Jubilee Tower and down to Quernmore. A diversion from the Caton road took us up to Littledale and down to Caton Green and the A683 towards Hornby. A mile or so along this road we turned off through Wray to Wennington and the Benthams. Here we turned right to go to Keasdon and over the moors down into the Gisburn Forest. We crossed the causeway across the Stocks Reservoir and up to the main road to follow the signs to Slaidburn.
This had been quite a long run taking 2 hours so we spent a well earned half hour rest break around the cafe in Slaidburn.

After the break we retraced our route a little way and then turned off to Grindleton and Chatburn. Again lovely riding conditions except for avoiding the sheep and cattle on the roads. From Chatburn we passed through Downham, Barley and Newchurch heading for Sabden and Whalley. Out of Whalley we took the scenic route to get to Wilpshire and on to Mellor. These roads were pretty awful with loose gravel and multitudes of potholes but we all came through unscathed. At Mellor Brook we joined the A59 and headed for the petrol station and cafe at Samlesbury where the run ended.

A lovely day and a lovely route but a bit exhausting over the last hour with the road conditions. My hand was feeling the strain by the time I got home!

Thanks for the run Steve. I think we all enjoyed the ride.
