Seven bikes turned out on a very showery day to follow Tony round the lanes of Sefton. Three of these riders were new members and one was riding his newly built Norvin. A beautiful machine and to cap it all he brought his wife as pillion passenger. Peter had come all the way from Morecambe on his M16 and had fought his way down the A6 through the jungle that is now Broughton to arrive in time for the off.
So we all set off through the lanes of West Lancashire amidst occasional showers and after about an hour we stopped off at a very large but well hidden Pimbo Garden Centre where we all had refreshments and a chat.
Then off through more country lanes into Sefton Borough and on to Lydiate where we stopped off at the oldest pub in Lancashire The Scotch Piper Inn. At this point the showers had abated and we all sat outside enjoying a drink and another chat in the sunshine. The pub dates from 1320 and after a fire a couple of years ago had its thatched roof replaced and it now looks splendid.
At about 1:30 we set off back to the Football Club. Peter left us at Aughton to visit a family member and Dave headed home when we got near to Ormskirk, the rest of us arrived safely back at CRFC and after a short rest said our farewells and departed our separate ways.
Thanks to Tony for an enjoyable ride out and a couple of interesting stops. Our new members seemed to enjoy the experience so we hope to see them all again at club night.
