12 Riders gathered at the start point at Barton Grange for this year’s memorial run. Frank led us round the lanes via Inglewhite, Chaigley, Bashall, Waddington, Newton in Bowland to Slaidburn for a short stop at the Riverbank Tearooms. Leaving Slaidburn we took the Lythe Fell Road towards Bentham. We turned off to Wray shortly before Bentham and arrived at Greenfoot Garden Centre for our lunch stop. Wray was having its annual Scarecrow Festival so the car park was busy and a food stall was set up where many partook of the food and drinks. Leaving Wray we passed through the village centre which was decorated with huge scarecrows and had bunting hanging from the houses and lamposts. We really felt part of the celebrations as the crowds stopped to watch us pass by!
Back now via Caton, Quermore, Dolphinholme and Oakenclough and Garstang to arrive at the Myerscough Plant World and Garden Centre for a drink and chat before we all went our separate ways. We all had a great day out in good dry weather and no incidents to report apart from Richard breaking a tooth on an iced cake at Slaiburn!
Thanks go to to our President, Frank for leading us safely round our first run of the year.
