2026 Charity Run
A cool but dry morning saw 10 riders turn up at the Club for the run to Derrian house and then onwards for a scenic run round South Ribble, West Lancs and Chorley District.
The representative at Derrian house thanked us for our £300 donation and told us it would be put to good use looking after the young children, many with terminal illnesses.
A photo of the attendees was taken for their webpage and a promise made to send it to us for our website.
After the donation many of the riders went their separate ways leaving 5 to enjoy the run Tony had planned.
We set off and rode back to Euxton Mills and joined Dawbers Lane turned off on Lydiate Lane towards Eccleston then on to Cock Robin where we turned right up a lane to pass by Croston Station and up to Bretherton. A left here took us to Sollom where we crossed the A59 and took a narrow lane to Mere Brow. A bit of difficulty here as there were Highways trucks setting up to do something to the road but the 4X4 in front of us couldn’t get past so a bit of juggling with vehicles was needed to get everything moving again. From here we crossed the marshes and passed Windmill Animal Farm and Martin Mere Visitor Centre. We stopped here at Brandreth Farm for lunch at their tea room Cafe. We first thought we would sit outside but thought better of it when the chilly wind blew the menus away and we elected to eat indoors.
After eating we carried on to Burscough Bridge and turned left before the canal to join the A59 for a mile before turning right to cross Prescott Bridge and on to Newburgh. From Newburgh we drove to Dalton and then Appley Bridge, Wrightington and back to Charnock Richard after 43 Miles.
We all enjoyed the run and thanked Tony for his planning and leading.
