We have received the news that our dear friend Lawrie has passed away.
His son Scott has sent us the details of the funeral arrangements and I have posted them below.
The committee will keep all members informed of our response to this sad event.
Scott’s note to us –
A few of the longest-standing members will remember me from Jampot Rallies and club runs way back in the 1980s, but for those that don’t know me, I’m Scott, Lawrie’s son.
Many of my dad’s happiest hours were spent with the club on runs or at rallies. Anyone from the club would be very welcome to attend his funeral. Details are:
Location: West Lancashire Cemetery and Crematorium, Pippin St, Burscough, Lancashire L40 7SP. https://www.westlancashirecrematorium.co.uk/contact-map.php
Time: 10:00 am, Friday 7 February 2025.
The hearse will leave from 63 Deyes Lane, Maghull, L31 6DF, so there is the option of traveling in convoy from Maghull or simply joining at the crematorium. I will confirm timings for the Deyes Lane option in due course. I know that cars are better suited to the February weather, but if anyone was interested in attending on two wheels, nothing would make my dad happier than the sound of a bike engine or two to send him off. I know that he would consider bike leathers to be a perfectly appropriate attire for a funeral!
Following the service we will have a drinks and sandwiches reception – location to be confirmed but likely back in Maghull.
For planning purposes, it would be helpful to have an indication of overall numbers attending. Therefore, if you could let me know who would like to attend, I will keep a list.
My mum (Anne) has requested that people don’t send flowers, but there will be an option to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support if anyone wants to (again, details to follow). To avoid any misunderstanding, dad didn’t die of cancer, this is just a favourite charity that he and my mum have supported over the years.
Thank you for all the happy times that you gave to my dad,
Scott Roberts
