FARMYARD ALES NIGHT 7th Sept 2021

It was a really hot sunny afternoon as I made my way up the A6 on the CSR to the Farmyard Ales classic vehicle night. It was the last one of the year and I think there were more cars and bikes than last month. I was looking along the bikes when I recognised a blue AJS 16ms. It used to belong to Alf Stringer who passed away many years ago. Alf was a long- standing member of the section and was quite a character. Luckily someone pointed out the present owner who I recognised as Tony Keegan. We used to watch Tony race his Matchless at Cadwell Park etc and we had a good old chat!

Dave L arrived on his 1965 Suzuki 250 which looks very smart with chromed side panels and white paintwork. It has some interesting features such as a hydraulic drum rear brake. Lee came on his rigid BSA B31 which looks like a very nice light bike and I bet it’s quite nippy too! Chris was inspecting an Ariel Huntmaster with a monster alternator fixed on the end of the dynamo somehow! John R set off on his Velocette LE but only got a few yards before it packed in. It was far too hot to mess around with it so John came in the car. Colin was on car park duty wearing his club high viz waistcoat (well that’s what it looked like and people were asking him which way to the bar!)

It was a very enjoyable night looking around all the bikes and cars with a pint of Heybob.
