Dave’s Chipshop Run 2024

6 members (5 bikes) met at CRFC on a nice warm sunny morning for the Chipshop Run. There was a nice mix of AMC bikes with a rigid trials G3C a late trials G3, a 650 G12, a 500 model 20 and a Rotax G80. Mick says his G80 is much nicer with the original Lanfranconi silencer fitted. The megga fitted was frightening the chickens! Tony seems happy with his G3C which goes very well.

We all fitted on one table outside the chippy and enjoyed our meals in the sun. It had dulled over as we continued the run on the first of several diversions. We negotiated the infamous Mawdesley Triangle without incident then out towards Lathom, over the River Douglas and past the site of the Railway Tavern at Hosker (our meeting place in the 1980’s and now a private house), Through Newburgh and up the steep climb over Ashurst Beacon to Orrell. Turning left at probably the biggest hedge in the world we headed for Billinge (Leo-land). No Leo’s were spotted so we rode up the hill and back to Orrell,

Appley Bridge and Parbold.

At the Rigbye Arms my Brother Gordon was waiting for us and we had a good chat over a pint. We got home just about dry with just a few spots of rain. So no breakdowns, good weather and no-one got lost, hooray!
