Bob’s Morning Run 23rd July 2025

By 11am at the Bluebird hotel 8 riders had arrived ready for a short ride ending up at Bob’s house in Coupe Green for lunch generously provided by Bob and Barbara.

We set off towards Mellor Brook but turned off to ride through Balderstone to Osbaldeston and ignored the road closed signs to get back to the A59. Why do they close roads that are not being worked on when the work is actually on the footpaths when the workers arrive?

At Tiggis Restaurant we turned right and rode up the narrow lanes to Ramsgreave, luckily this year not behind a tractor and trailer! A right here and then left at Mellor to get to Nabs Head and down to Samelsbury Bottoms then up to the old Blackburn road past Hoghton Towers to get to Brindle. A long winding road here to get back to Bob’s at Coupe Green. A 20 mile ride in overcast but warm weather. At Bob’s we met Dave Y and other guests from the family and after a quick tour of Bob’s man cave to look at the ongoing projects we sat under the gazebo to chat and enjoy the company. Dave A and Rose arrived and shortly after we were served the lovely lunch that Barbara had made. Shepherds pie, hotpot, cheesy jacket potatoes and followed by trifle and lemon meringue with cream. A fabulous feast.

We all thanked Bob and Barbara for their hospitality and after a lovely ride and lunch we set off on our various ways home.

Another great morning run by Bob. Many thanks.
