Tony’s Old Gits Run 26 June 2019

A nice dry day welcomed 10 riders to CRFC for the 10:30 start. We should have been 14 but clutch problems for Chris and Trevor just outside Preston meant they had to cry off and return home. Cliff and Mark phoned to say their road was blocked and they would be late so a little late. On their arrival we all set off across country up and down the west side of Parbold hill the only high point around, then onto the flat and some times bumpy roads around Rufford. There were three rigid’s on the run and all said the bumps were no problem. As we where running a bit late some of the run was cut short to arrive at Hilda and Tony’s house. Hilda had been working hard and set out tables and 12 chairs, and prepared some very tasty scones and cake with strawberries and cream which were soon devoured. I think Mark was quite comfy sitting in the garden eating all the spare cakes, but we managed to get him going.

The plan was to meet Lawrie at the Scotch Piper Inn at 12.30. But because we were running late it was decided that we would take a shorter route there. A 30 minute ride later and we were there for a pint sandwiches and a natter with him.

At about 2pm after the refreshments we decided to head back across country to Rufford before going our separate ways. At some point on the route Bob seemed to lose his rear view mirror so a search party headed back to where it was seen to depart his bike. I hope they found it.

A Very enjoyable ride, in good weather.
