Charity Money Hand Over

Saturday 8th December saw 4 members riding down to the Blood Bikes HQ at Bamber Bridge with our donation to their Charity.

We were welcomed by their Chairman, Paul Brooks, and 7 or 8 of their volunteers and showed them our “ real” motorcycles! They had 3 of their bikes outside for us to inspect and beautifully presented they were. Honda Pan Europeans I believe and at 1300cc a little more powerful than our old ladies.

Most of their volunteer members were assembling for a route training trip to Manchester R I and they departed as we climbed the stairs to visit their new training room which they have had constructed and then fully decorated and fitted out by themselves.

Paul told us all about the organisation and the jobs they do in support of emergency medical supplies and emergency sample transport to ensure the hospitals get the blood and results of tests as quickly as possible.

It seems a very large and much needed support service and is obviously a trusted support service for the NHS in the North West and the patients who benefit from their work.

We handed over our cheque for £300 pounds and it was gratefully accepted.

We then visited their maintenance bay where maintenance is performed to keep their bikes in roadworthy condition before bidding our farewell.

Thanks to the riders who came out in the cold and damp conditions to do the run and thanks to the Bloodbikers for their hospitality. I am sure our funds will be put to good use. The photos of the event are in the gallery.
